Sophie Haggerty

Anna HasselbringPlease help me give a warm welcome to the first Sprk'd summer intern, Ann Hasselbring! I know I learned a lot when interning in college so I couldn't be more excited to pay it forward and give Anna as much real-world experience I possible can in a short summer.

So let's take a moment to get to know her a little better, shall we?

What drew you to pursue a PR and advertising major?

I chose these two majors because to me it’s the best of both worlds. I enjoy public relations because I am very much a people person, I love to make new connections and network. Advertising fits well with my desire to practice my creativity and develop my ideas into reality. These majors help me utilize my strengths so that I can pursue a career that I truly have a passion for, which I believe should be the main goal of a collegiate education.

In your bio, you mention you like creating with InDesign, what do you like to create?

With InDesign I have had the most fun creating event posters. I love to test out different fonts, colors and layouts so that they match with who the client is and what the key aspects of the event are.

Anna and family hikingYou also mention hiking in your bio. What's the most difficult or a favorite hike you've tackled thus far?

My favorite hike would have to be “Devil’s Bridge” in Sedona, Ariz. Sedona is a gorgeous town in northern Arizona that is surrounded by these amazing red rock formations. Devil’s Bridge isn’t necessarily a difficult hike it’s only about a 2 mile hike, but at the end there is this incredible natural bridge carved out of red rock. Beautiful site to look at, but then my dad had the brilliant idea for us to go on this sandstone bridge that suspended 50 feet over the forest. It was a bit nerve wracking, but it was an awesome experience.

Any fun summer plans?

On June 4th I will be going to Chicago for a month to live with my sister. I have only been there once and loved it, so I am so excited to be in the city for an extended period of time and have a chance to take in all the sites. Straight from Chicago I will be going to Las Vegas for my birthday and then later in July I will also be going to St. Louis and Detroit to visit extended family. It’s going to be a summer full of traveling and new adventures and I cannot wait to get it started!

What would you consider your "super power"?

My super power would be my impressive ability to memorize quotes after only watching a movie one time.

Have a favorite food or drink?

I am an avid iced coffee drinker. As a broke college student I cannot afford Starbucks as much as I’d like, but I have to say I have become pretty skilled at becoming my own at home barista.

What are you most looking forward to learning through this internship?

What I am looking forward to learning most through this internship is to further improve my writing, marketing and social networking skills. I am excited to learn about all the work that’s put into content marketing and conducting community management for various companies. Sprk’d is unlike any other company I have ever worked with before and I am so grateful for this opportunity to work with Christine and learn everything she knows about owning a business in the industry.
